93 adoptions!
The count is in: in 2024, we sent 93 animals off to their forever homes. This is the count from January 1, before we had our nonprofit and rescue license and it was just some girl and a shed full of kittens in her yard, so our official “Odd Paws Rescue” count is lower, but those babies still count! 91 cats, one rabbit, and one dog.
I’m a liiiittle bummed- I was certain we’d crossed 100 adoptions until I went through our paperwork, but still, close. Next year will definitely be a lower number, which I’m sad about but it’s necessary. A lot of hard lessons were learned this year. Rescue is amazing and there are so many wonderful success stories, but there are also extreme expenses, heartbreaking losses, and severe mental and emotional strain. Many rescues quit within the first year, and that was almost us, too- the stress, heartache, and cost nearly broke me.
In 2025, we will be scaling back down to a more affordable & manageable number of animals until we repay this year’s debts, focusing ONLY on special needs and neonates, and I personally will be diving more fully into wildlife rehabilitation. Really hoping to work with a wider variety of animals this year and learn about different species, but my heart will forever belong to the Pointy-Nosed Trash Cat. Expect to see a lot of them in the coming months! 🤗
Thank you for being here with us through this journey. None of this would have been possible without you. ♥️
